The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed a total of 2,000 Corps Members to Borno State in the northeast for the 2015/2016 deployment.
According to Sahara Reporters, the Borno State Public Relations Officer of NYSC, Mr Suleiman Aliyu, confirmed this via an electronic message in Maiduguri on Tuesday, November 24, 2015.Mr Suleiman said: ”2200 corps members have been deployed to Borno State for the exercise which is scheduled to hold between Wednesday November 25th to Monday December 14th 2015. They had their orientation course in Benue, Gombe and Nassarawa States. However, Katsina will host them this forthcoming 2015 Batch B stream orientation programme.”
He stated that NYSC is not unaware of the Boko Haram crisis that has troubled the area since 2011, but urged the State Governor Kashim Shettima to come and grace the swearing-in of the Corp members on Friday, November 27, 2015.
”It may interest you to know that the presence of Bauchi State Governor and his cabinet had made corps members, who earlier sought to redeploy elsewhere, to change their mind to stay in Bauchi. Why can Borno do the same? He demanded.
”We wish to urge the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, to display more concern to the new corps members. It will encourage them even to their so as stays or redeploys,” he urged.
