In a reported interview with The Entertainer, the African Queen singer lent 5 advice tips to upcoming artistes. He  said:

“You have to be ready mentally, physically and spiritually to face challenges that will come your way.”
“Number two is you must maintain your focus, focus on your dream and pursue it; live it and sleep it every day.”

“Number three is respect; you have to respect people because people are the backbone of your success and failure. You must respect your fans and the people that contributed in one way or the other to your success because there is no artist that can come out and say he or she is an island.”
“You have to have some level of humility. It is not by force that you must greet everybody you see on the road but you have to know how you put yourself out there.”
“And finally talent, you need to have talent to make it in the industry.”

A Russian defence company has unveiled its design of full body armour for police terror-sniffing dogs, after the death of a French police dog called Diesel, who died during a police raid in the aftermath of the Paris attacks.

The body armour called “Nord body armour” was designed by St. Petersburg-based Scientific Production of Special Materials (NPO).
The body armour protects the neck and chest of the police dog, while additional armour is available for the legs and heads if required.
A company official said the dog that was used to test the armour initially resisted it, but accepted its use after some “incentives” were given and it realised the armour was for its “own good and protection”.
The company says the body armour can be fitted on a police dog in a minute.

Adele has said that watching the tragic decline of Amy Winehouse left her frightened of fame.
The 27 year old singer , who has just smashed the record for first-week album sales has now revealed that troubled Amy’s death in 2011 at the same age drove home the dangers of living in the spotlight.
Adele said:
“People think I hate being famous. I don’t. I’m really frightened of it.
"Watching Amy deteriorate is one of the reasons I’m a bit frightened. We were all very entertained by her being a mess.I was f****** sad about it but if someone showed me a picture of her looking bad, I’d look at it. That level of attention is frightening.”

Goat and Tiger

An unlikely friendship between a goat and tiger has shocked zoo keepers in Siberia. The zoo keepers threw the goat into the tiger's den but to their surprise, the animals became friends with the goat even taking over the tiger's bed. .

The tiger named Amur, is used to killing and eating goats, as he is fed one twice a week, staff told the Siberian Times.

But this one brave goat has somehow managed to survive four days without being troubled by the usually carnivorous predator.

"We think that the goat never came across tigers and no-one taught him to be scared of them," said one of the tiger's keepers."He kicked the tiger out of his bedroom and is sleeping on Amur's 'bed' for the fourth night."
Keepers have now named the goat Timur "out of respect for his bravery".
"He was just a nameless prey at the point when he entered the cage," the keeper said.

We all know that Davido and WizKid have had their beef/rivalry/competition or whatever else you want to call it. It came to a boiling point last year when the two went through a period of taking shots at each other on social media (Here and Here). Right now though it looks like they’ve made up and squashed it all.

Wande Coal being a friend to both of them, explained the rivalry between the both of them in an interview with Punch newspaper. He stressed that both of them are cool but acknowledged that there is some friction. “I have influenced the music of both Wizkid and Davido but the person with whom I went through a lot with and greatly influenced is Wizkid.

I don’t think anybody should blame Wizkid for whatever action he takes. I know Wizkid very well and I know that he learns from everything. He is a great kid and I love him a lot. He is my brother and that is why he calls my name in his songs.

We bonded. With David, I feel he is a good artiste. In the game called music, there would always be friction but it does not mean that they  are not cool with each other. People need to know that music is competitive,” Just a few days ago as Davido turned 23, WizKid gave him a special shout out on twitter. So yea… all is good… for now

Idris Elba recounts near death experience

Actor Idris Elba has revealed he had a close shave with death while shooting his latest film,Beasts Of No Nation.

Idris Elba recounts near death experience
“I nearly died,” Elba reportedly said on The Jonathan Ross Show. “We decided to do this waterfall scene where all these child soldiers were walking behind this massive waterfall. Cary Fukunaga, the director, decided to shoot it for real.”
Elba had played the role of Commandant in the movie, leading a rebel group of soldiers in an African nation.
“We went to this waterfall and in this scene my character is standing there watching all the child soldiers go past,” Elba continued.

“Now in the setup of that, the stunt coordinator says, ‘Listen everyone, this is a waterfall, that’s a 90-, 100-foot drop down there and the ground is very slippery, just be careful!’ I put my foot on this rock… [and] it’s slippery, obviously. I slip … I put my hand on this tree — it’s not a tree, it’s a branch. It snaps and I go literally about six feet before I go bang over and I got caught by the security guy.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu has in this detailed article obtained from PM News revealed some benefits of President Muhammadu Buhari numerous trips abroad.

The clarification was necessary as Nigerians have been asking series of questions about the President’s junketing trips.
Read article below:
I have been amused, reading a number of jokes concerning the frequency of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s foreign trips.
Questions have been raised about why so many visits, and what are the benefits Nigeria is getting?
I will make it clear from the beginning that the critic is entitled to his and her opinion and nothing said here is intended to silence him or her.
Criticism goes with the territory and as it is often said in a wisecrack, if you don’t like the heat, get out of the kitchen.
President Muhammadu Buhari came into office under the mantra of change. While Nigerians are yearning for change, you need someone who will set up the infrastructure, both at home and abroad for it. President Buhari is busy doing that.
The change is manifest in where he visits and what he does.
In the delegations accompanying him abroad, President Buhari has slashed the numbers, bringing them down to a tolerable or the bearable minimum.
He went to the United Nations General Assembly in September with an unbelievable 32 officials in his delegation. These included his cook, his doctor and luggage officer.
His predecessor in office went to the same meeting with 150 officials and family members the year before.
Wherever they are given government accommodation and feeding, members of President Buhari’s entourage receive reduced allowances, thereby saving the government some money.
In public diplomacy, experts say that it is better conducted through face-to-face interaction than through third parties. This is even moreso at the level of heads of state. To do by it by proxy is to miss the effect of fostering strong interpersonal relations between leaders, by which nations benefit.
President Buhari has so far visited Germany, South Africa, USA, Niger, Tchad, Cameroon, Benin, Ghana, South Africa, India, Iran and Malta, where we are presently for the Commonwealth Summit.
Mostly, these were due to either the United Nations, EU, African Union or energy and security-related summits. They were mostly undertaken to attend specific meetings, not State Visits. Looking at these assignments, the trips are inescapable for the President. What would Nigerians say of their leader when see the array of world leaders assemble, as they would shortly be doing discussing climate change in Paris on Monday and their own President is missing from the table?
Those of us who were around under Abacha read all the taunts about him being a sit-at-home leader. Abacha was despised for not representing his country abroad.
President Buhari’s foreign visits have been marked by punishing schedules. They are always business-like and results-oriented.
All trips have been marked by tight schedules. Meeting after meeting, happening back-to-back morning, afternoon and evening. The President has had to travel overnight for some of these meetings.
The visit by any president to another country is the highest act in international relations.
It sends out a message that that county is important to the visitor.
It is not like your usual vacation abroad. Official discussions involving political leaders, the military, the diplomats and at times, business people are held at multi- track levels. In foreign policy you stand on a quick sand of events and you slip up if take a rest or lose focus. Governments also know that their achievements at home will be meaningless if they cannot project them abroad. Who or where are the foreign investors, whose hand you are seeking if you can’t travel meet them? Will they come if they don’t know about the country? President Buhari demonstrated a keen understanding of these when in the first week of his taking the office, he brought together foreign policy and all three cardinal objectives of his administration-security,economy and war on corruption- by embarking on visits to neighboring countries.
In our recent history, much of the West had ignored Nigeria under the corrupt PDP administration for many years, which warranted the country’s tilt towards some Asian countries.
As a consequence, this country has suffered past isolation of various types, including the denial of access to the arms-purchase market.
As a member of the then Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, I remember being in a delegation that visited the Aso Rock Villa, to beg the government at that time not the execute the writer and activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa.
At the meeting with the Number Two man in that government, Major-General Oladipo Diya, he announced to everyone’s shock and disbelief that Ken had been executed. “Honestly,” he muted, “I think he has been executed about two days ago.”
What followed that pronouncement was a global outrage.
The then Foreign Affairs Minister, Arch. Tom Ikimi representing Nigeria at the Commonwealth meeting in New Zealand, shattered the feelings of the leaders of those countries when he announced to them that he had not been briefed about the executions and begged for time to talk to the leaders back in Nigeria.
Nigeria faced an imminent expulsion from the group and would have been so sacked but for the intervention of the then President of South Africa, late Nelson Mandela.
In place of this extreme form of sanction, a suspension and and a barrage of sanctions followed and remained in place until an appreciable remorse was was shown and progress made towards the return to democracy by Nigeria.
Throughout that period of time, it was difficult being a Nigerian in the international space.
As council members of the UN Human Rights Commission, Africans would caucus in Geneva without us Nigerians. Like lepers, we were shunned wherever we showed up.
I mentioned this short narrative to illustrate two things: one, for a country to do the right things all the time and two, you don’t know the joy being a part of international gatherings until you suffer the pain of exclusion from them.
Short of begging the world, there was nothing that the Abacha government didn’t do to be taken back into the Commonwealth.
And it is against this background that I felt the need to pen this opinion in the hope of bringing better understanding to fellow countrymen and women on the current subject matter.
There is no reason to be angry with anyone criticizing President Buhari for traveling abroad. In politics, even if President Buhari were to bring with him a suitcase full of cash and a pot gold each time he returned from a trip, someone will criticize him, saying that the journey is wasteful.
The PDP will kick, knowing that they got 16 years and did nothing with it. Those who didn’t do much during their term of governance will find it instructive to fault whatever the President is doing.
If President Buhari is successful as a leader, the PDP will be history.
My own point here is that he is doing a great job and the fruits are here, and many more will soon come. He is working to strengthen diplomatic relations, trade and the security of our nation. He holds serious meetings with serious investors and has fetched us investments in the range of billions of US Dollars.
Now, countries such as France, UK, The U.S are supporting Nigeria with intelligence, weapons and training for our military against Boko Haram and the economic saboteurs in the Delta region.
President Buhari will definitely make Nigeria great, what the PDP fooled us for 16 years.
All heads of countries around the world now take Nigeria seriously. His foreign trips are for business, security of the country and bilateral contacts- contacts that get actualized by follow-ups and the love and support a leader enjoys at home and abroad.
Today the world is in a warm embrace of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Nigerians should be proud of the attention, love and admiration, importance, respect and investment he is bringing to Nigeria. These trips are not for enjoyment.
Lastly, to answer those who ask all the time, what is he bringing back home?
We are not a country of beggars. It is good if something is in the bag as the leader comes home from a trip.
Culturally, we never return home from a trip without a souvenir for everyone left at home. Yes it is good he declares something upon his return.
But the most important task for the President at this time is to reset the image of Nigeria abroad, given the damage it sustained over many years in the past.
So far, in fairness, the President has projected a large image of Nigeria and of himself which should be a matter of pride for all our citizens. Marketing of Brand Nigeria can never be more important than currently it is.
The President is doing a great job for the nation. He needs to be supported.

A woman who tried to kill her husband by lacing his drink with antifreeze has been jailed for 15 years.
Jacqueline Patrick, 55, poisoned 70-year-old Douglas Patrick’s favourite dink and gave it to him alongside a late night supper on Christmas Day .
She had been encouraged by their daughter Katherine Patrick, 21, who collapsed in the dock in floods of tears as she was jailed for three years for helping her mum.
The court was told that Mrs Patrick had first tried to kill Douglas in October 2013, but when he survived she continued to put harmful substances in his drinks.
Mrs Patrick tried to finish the job on Christmas Day, slipping anti-freeze into two glasses of cherry Lambrini drinks and leaving him fighting for his life in hospital.
Text messages showed Mrs Patrick and her daughter also contemplated organising an attack on Mr Patrick, a retired bus driver, as he went to his car, and they monitored the effects of the poisoning through the weeks leading to Christmas.
The plot was exposed when police discovered a fake note asking to ‘die with dignity’ which had actually been mocked up by his wife.
In the ambulance, Mrs Patrick claimed her husband had muttered: “Goodbye, I done it and I don’t want to be here anymore.”
But texts revealed the mother and daughter had plotted the poisoning together, and sent each other updates saying including one saying: ‘dad feels sick’.
Mr Patrick was put into an induced coma which lasted for nearly two weeks, and blood tests revealed that he had been poisoned with anti-freeze.
His wife then suggested her husband may have drunk a blue liquid by mistake, but suspicious doctors decided to call police.
Detectives found bottles of anti-freeze and a bottle of cherry Lambrini at the family home in Norwood, southeast London.
When Mr Patrick regained consciousness on January 8 last year, he said he was not suicidal and denied drinking anti-freeze to kill himself.
He then pointed to the Christmas Lambrini drinks which he said left him drunker than usual.
Mr Patrick also told officers he had suffered a similar collapse in October 2013 which left him in hospital for eight days.
His wife and daughter were arrested the following day and gave accounts in interview riddled with inconsistencies.
The doctor saw the typed note supposedly from Mr Patrick, saying: “I Douglas Patrick do not wish to be revived as I would like to die with dignity with my family by my side”.
“The doctor discounted it immediately as it was unsigned and undated and lacked the essential particulars”, said Mr Brown.
He said the doctor then quizzed Mrs Patrick about what could have caused her husband’s collapse.
She suggested Mr Patrick may have accidentally drunk anti-freeze as he liked to drink alcohol out of containers which used to have other liquids.
In an impact statement, Mr Patrick pleaded with the judge not to jail his wife and daughter but said the poisoning had ‘broken me – I’m just a shell now’.
“Despite it all I’m still Jacqueline’s husband and still Katherine’s father. I almost pray for a suspended sentence or a tag.”I cry all the time, I can’t hold myself together”.
“I could not believe it and I still can’t believe it.”
In a further statement, he revealed that he had asked police to drop the case and was scared of reprisals from people close to the family.
“I’m in fear people will recognise me from the press. People known to the family blame me for this and think I abused Jacqueline and the my daughters”

A series of 'attack robots' designed to fight terrorism have been unveiled in China.

It has the ability to detect poisonous gases, harmful chemicals and explosives, and send that data back to soldiers.

The EOD robot weighs about 12 kg and can be carried on a soldier's back. It's designed to help them on solo missions, according to dailymail UK.

For more dangerous situations an 'attacker robot' armed with 'minor-calibre weapons, recoilless rifles and grenade launchers' will be deployed.

'With a sighting telescope, a trigger and a safe installed, the attacker can hit its target from a long distance,' Xinhua said.

A series of 'attack robots' designed to fight terrorism have been unveiled in China at this week's 2015 World Robot Conference in Beijing

One of the robots will be used for initial reconnaissance missions. It has the ability to detect poisonous gases, harmful chemicals and explosives, and send that data back to soldiers

If the reconnaissance mission finds anything wrong, another robot – known as an ordnance disposal (EOD) machine - would be sent to tackle the situation

For more dangerous situations an 'attacker robot' armed with 'minor-calibre weapons, recoilless rifles and grenade launchers' will be deployed, the agency said
