Nigerian Army Uncovers Boko Haram Hideout-Tunnel in Sambisa

In a bid to beat the December deadline set for ending insurgency in the North East Nigerian region, the Nigerian troops on Monday, December 7, commenced simultaneous and tactical offensive attack against Boko Haram insurgents. Leadership reports.

According to Military sources, troops of the Nigeria army had begun to advance towards Alagarno, a notorious hideout and spiritual headquarters of Boko Haram located between Borno and Yobe states.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Col Sani Usman, who also confirmed the development, said it was a strategic operation involving both the air and ground troops, saying that details of the strategies might not be made known to the public yet.
A soldier in Maiduguri, said, “the bombardment started today (Monday) and from the signals being received so far, they are making appreciable progress over Sambisa.”
Alagarno which lies about 45km south of Maiduguri, is believed to be one of the most important Boko Haram camps, a hideout where the jihadists have planned operations over the past four years.
