A Nigerian based in the U.S. Ena Ofugara shared the touching post about his friend and wife whose baby born at 6 months made an amazing recovery. His post below:

A really horrifying car crash along a highway has left the vehicle unimaginably mangled and the passengers dead.

The scene of the crash
The man, a British father has died alongside his two young sons in car crash in France.
His wife and another child were severely injured in the crash, which took place on A39 motorway at Savigny-en-Revermont, in the east of the country, south of Dijon.

Witnesses saw the driver lose control of the car shortly after 7am. It left the road, smashed through barriers, crossed an embankment, and then fell on to a slip road.

Early theories are that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel as no other vehicles were involved, and weather and road conditions were good, according to investigating sources.
An investigating officer at the scene of the crash said the enquiry was currently focusing on the driver losing control of the vehicle.

“We can perhaps imagine he fell asleep, or was distracted by something,” said the senior police commander.

Other rescue workers said the man had been trapped inside the wreckage when they arrived, but died within minutes of a heart attack.

Pictures later showed the burnt out wreckage of the vehicle, which was surrounded by debris, and almost unrecognisable as a family car.

Eight-year-old pupil of Prospect Primary School, Akute, Ogun State, Oyindamola Onimole, has been detained by the Ajuwon Police Division.

Oyindamola, who was held by the police between 6pm on Wednesday and 12pm on Thursday, was arrested by a policeman from the station for reporting a teacher in the school, identified simply as Mrs. Oni, to his mother.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Oni, who is the wife of one of the policemen at the station, had maltreated Oyindamola at school and the pupil reported her to his mother, Mrs. Nimota Onimole, who subsequently stormed the school and complained about the assault.

After the mother left, the teacher was said to have descended on the child again for daring to report her to his mother.

A source in the school said, “After school hours, the teacher called her husband and he stormed the house of the pupil and arrested the minor.

“When Mrs. Onimole (Nimota) returned from work about 10pm, neighbours told her about the ordeal of her son. She left for the police station to ascertain what had happened. The mother, who went to the police station to bail her child, was also detained.”

Oyindamola’s father, Olalekan Omole, confirmed on Thursday that his wife and son were detained by the police.

He said, “At about 6.30pm, the teacher and her policeman husband, went to our house and forcibly took my son. They used okada (motorcycle) to pick my son.

“When my wife returned about 10pm and got to the station around 10.30pm, requesting to get her child released, she was equally detained at the station. All this happened because of the influence of the teacher, whose husband happened to be a policeman at the station.

“My two remaining children slept alone at home that night. I had to consult a lot of people to wade in and get justice for my family.

“But today (Thursday), at about 12pm, my son and my wife were released by the police.”

Olalekan, who expressed outrage at the detention of the minor, said he would contact his lawyer to take the matter up.

Oyindamola’s father added that he had informed the school proprietor about Mrs. Oni’s alleged misconduct.

Ruby Mathieson has never applied makeup in all her life but is looking pretty good for 100 years

The gran-of-two from Dalmarnock, Glasgow, who was born in 1916, has never worn makeup, not
even on her wedding day. She calls it ‘evil stuff’ and, instead, simply washes her face every day with cold water.

Despite living through decades of changing beauty looks, from the dark lips and porcelain skin of the 1920s, to the glory days of blue eyeshadow and pink blusher in the 1980s, Ruby has never been tempted to experiment.

And her daughter Rona Mattis, 59, believes this simple regime is the key to her mum’s lifelong clear skin. ‘She used to think it [makeup] was evil stuff, and the only thing she would do in the morning was wash her face with cold water,’ she recalls.

She says her mum Ruby ‘just didn’t believe her skin would be as clear if she wore make-up all the time – I think she got it from my grandmother who also never wore it.

‘On her wedding day she was given a little powder compact, but even then refused to put any of it on. I still have the compact now.’

She adds that there was never any makeup lying around in the house when she was younger to play about with and she now only wears minimal makeup herself.

‘I think it absolutely has made a difference to my mum’s skin – she looks amazing for 100 years old,’ she says.

Although there might be another factor at play (other than good genes of course). Rona says her mum also used to drink a big glass of water every morning and has never touched a drop of alcohol.

As for her secret to long life, that would be ‘lots of fresh Scottish air’. ‘She has also always been the outdoors type. Walking is by far her favourite pastime,’ Rona says.

So, ditch the contouring and take more walks.

Yeah, we’ve got no hope

Meet the 69 year old herbalist, Chief Simon Odo, who married an 18 year old girl, Chidinma, as his 57th wife last November and now says he won't marry again.

Chidinma was married from Okutu, in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Odo, also known variously as Onuwa, King Solomon of Africa or King of Satan was married to 68 women but some of them had earlier died. Augustina Odo (nee Asogwa) and Virginia, nee Mogbo from Oraifite were among the dead ones.

Odo spoke in an interview with the South East Voice at his palatial home at Aji, Enugu Ezike in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Onuwa who was armed with an Onward note book where names of his wives and over 200 children
were listed according to their dates of birth said that his first son, Emeka was born on December 15, 1969.
“I was born in 1947 on the day they had an eclipse of the sun and the moon. There was darkness in the afternoon on the day I was born. I was the only son of my parents. “I was baptised as a Christian in the Catholic Church and I even became a mass servant under Rev Father Desmond McGlade.
I however became a herbalist because of circumstances beyond my control. As I said, I was the only son of my parents but because some of his relations wanted to take over his landed property, they poisoned me. I contracted tuberculosis and had to be treated for years.
At a point, I was even unable to walk for about five years because I became lame. I ran to Ondo State in the South West, where I trained to become a herbalist at the age of 15, before returning to the village.
I married 15 wives when my father was alive and the situation prolonged his life. He died in 1992 at the ripe old age of over 90 years. My first son has seven children and four grandchildren. Any of my children who chooses to become a Christian is free to do so, provided he/she must become a Catholic. I don’t like the Pentecostal churches.”

The new bride Chidinma

On feeding of his large family, Onuwa said,
“People think that I feed many of them but this is not true. Most of my children are grown up. The boys among them usually marry and go to their own houses just like the girls who marry and follow their husbands to their places.
However, my wives cook food for the whole family in turns. For example, if it is the turn of Ada or Omada to cook, she would invite five of her colleagues to assist her in cooking. One woman cooks for everybody in the house at a time but my other wives would always assist such a person.”
Asked if any of his sons has taken after him as a herbalist, he said,
“I will not encourage them to do so. I don’t want my sons to take after me because some of them will do bad things with my medicine. As a herbalist, I have never killed anybody or thought of evil against anybody but I do not trust that my children would be upright like me. That is why I will not encourage them to inherit my medicine but I may bequeath them to some of my younger children, not the old, greedy ones.”
Meanwhile, it was learnt that although Onuwa abhorred seeing his children attend churches other than the Catholic church, seven of them were ordained pastors at the Lord’s Chosen Church. Hitherto, some of them attended Catholic and Anglican churches while many of them took after their father in his business.

However, the ordination of the pastors brought about a radical Christian awakening in the extra-large family of Chief Odo. In the past four years, there had been a simmering misunderstanding between the pastors and their father regarding his herbal practice. The pastors were said to be mounting heavy pressure on him to repent and turn to Jesus, a demand the herbalist spurned.

Odo, said to have lost one of his wives last February, had arranged for the burial programme, which his pastor’s sons rejected and rather organized a prayer programme for her burial, triggering confusion in the family, Vanguard reports.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a deacon of Jesus Saves Church, a Lagos Pentecostal church, Obinna Aneke, for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl, Ngozi (pseudonym).

Aneke, 44, allegedly slept with the victim six different times in his apartment on James Esu Street, in the Bariga area of the state.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the Udi, Enugu State indigene, and the victim’s parents were friends.

Ngozi’s mother, a food vendor, was said to have reached an agreement with Aneke to be leaving her two daughters with him pending their resumption time at school at 7.45am.

This was because she always left the house for her trade at 6am, while her husband, a security guard,
also left for his place of work the same time.

It was learnt that one of Aneke’s three daughters attended the same school with Ngozi and her younger sister, which made the arrangement to work.

While Aneke’s wife, a trader, who equally left the house early for her shop was away, the suspect was alone with all the children as they prepared for school.

A police source at the command headquarters’ gender office explained that the suspect started using the opportunity to allegedly defile Ngozi.

He said:
“The girl’s mother had been good to him in the past. There was a time he didn’t have a job and it was the woman who fed his four children. So, since he had had his own job, the woman thought he would reciprocate by assisting her family to get her two daughters to school, along with one of his three daughters attending the same school.
“Unfortunately, the man took advantage of the seven-year-old. He would undress her and insert his manhood in her private parts. When he could not penetrate, he would apply his spittle to make it easier.”
He explained that the act went on till last Tuesday when he again raped the victim and afterwards threatened her not to tell anybody and if she did, he would kill her.

It was learnt that the girl opened up to her parents.

The matter was subsequently reported to policemen at the Bariga Police Division and the suspect was arrested.

It was learnt that the victim was taken to the Mirabel Centre, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where a test allegedly confirmed that there was a penetration.

The matter was subsequently transferred to the Gender Office, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.

The suspect, however, denied raping Ngozi, saying he only attempted to defile her once. He said when he could not penetrate, he suspended the action.

He said:
“This girl was taught to lie against me. I only attempted to have sex with her once and that was the day she told her parents. I didn’t even remove her pants. On that day, I shifted her pants sideways and wanted to penetrate, but when I saw it was not possible, I left her and ejaculated outside her private parts.
I am a leader in my church and I don’t want to bring my church into this mess. Even before anybody condemned me, I have already condemned myself and I wish I was not born. I was influenced by evil forces to do this.
I just want to beg for forgiveness from all those I have offended through this action and I just want to die.”
It was learnt that the Lagos State Government had already taken custody of the victim at the Heritage Home, in the Anthony area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, warned parents to be watchful so that their children would not fall victims of abuse.

She said:
“We will arraign the suspect at the conclusion of investigations. It is unfortunate that the scourge of rape is on the increase, but we are working to checkmate the activities of paedophiles in our society.”

Widower-who-buried-his-wife
An aggrieved man who was told by the doctors in a Casablanca hospital that his wife was dead, was shocked to learn she was alive 2 years after she was involved in a road accident.

The man identified as Abragh Mohamed, had held a funeral for someone he believed was his beloved wife, who ‘died’ as a result of the serious injuries she had suffered.
The whole situation took a new turn when his ‘late’ wife phoned into a popular TV programme designed to reconnect people who lost contact with their loved ones over the years.
Some of her family members had tuned in to watch the popular Moroccan television series ‘Al Mujtafun (Desaparecidos)’ or ‘Al Mujtafun (Disappeared)’, when she phoned in and explained how she had lost contact with her family, giving her husband’s name and house address.
Mohamed wasn’t home when the programme aired, but his friends who watched the programme, broke the news to him.
Here’s what he reportedly told the Spanish press:
“I did not know it was a different body that we buried and my wife was still alive.”
The woman had lived in a small mountain town called Azilal. Mohamed had been told by the doctors that she had little chances of survival, and was told to go ahead and pay her hospital bills. He had travelled for four hours back to his home to look for money to offset the bills, and was told his wife had died on his return.
Mohamed had later received what he assumed was his wife’s body, already wrapped in a shroud and in a coffin, which he took back home to Azilal for her burial.
Questions which need answers are; what went wrong in the first place, why did it take the woman took two years to get in touch and where has she been?

A police officer popularly called ‘Yellow’ has reportedly shot a driver dead over payment of the routine N100 bribe in Oyo state.

The driver, Alimi Akeem, was a member of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Saki, Oyo state, and was murdered by the trigger-happy officer on Wednesday, March 9.
Nigerian Trubune reports that Akeem, who is also known as Sakilayewa, plied the Saki-Okerete route and was on his way back to Saki when he passed through a checkpoint mounted by ‘Yellow’ and some other officers at the Orita Sanni area, when the incident occurred.
The policemen at the checkpoint were reported to always extort N100 from motorists plying the route, but on the said day, Akeem, who drove a Peugeot 504 (Wagon) did not see Yellow when he got to the point.
He was said to have given the N100 to the young man who worked as his (Yellow’s) boy, and drove on but Yellow, who was said to have noticed the anomaly, mounted his motorcycle and chased the driver, with the mindset that Akeem tried to evade paying the usual N100.
When he got close to Sakilayewa, the police officer reportedly shot at the tyre of the car and the late driver stopped to ask why he was being pursued.
This was said to have infuriated the policemen who shot at the driver from close range and disappeared after the incident.
Findings later showed that yellow was not a serving police officer in the Oyo state police command, rather he was attached to force headquarters and posted for border patrol.
The state’s police spokesperson, DSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the story, informed that the commissioner of police, Leye Oyebade, had ordered an investigation into the matter.
